Why I am running…
I love this City, and I want to be a part of helping Penticton thrive so that all members of this community feel supported and connected. Yes, Penticton has its challenges, such as crime, homelessness, and an economy that is vulnerable to geopolitical and environmental crises – but I have never experienced such a collaborative community, banding together to enhance positive change. This is why I want to be a part of the solution.
I believe in reducing municipal spending by identifying efficiencies, consolidating services and seeking external funding via grants and investments from other levels of government. We need to differentiate between essential and non-essential services and allocate funds to services that directly impact the community's well-being.
I support initiatives like the Temporary Winter Shelter, the Mobile Integrated Crisis Team (Car 40), the new Public Safety Advisory Committee and Visit Penticton - which demonstrate how the City is supporting vulnerable populations and economic development.
I believe in Smart Growth, by expanding our community in a way that is economically, environmentally, and socially responsible. As visitors on the land of the Syilx Okanagan People we must be conscious of the footprints we leave as Penticton welcomes more and more residents each year. My goal as a City Councillor is to foster a thriving, vibrant and safe community.
