A bit about meβ¦
After visiting the Okanagan with my (now) husband who hails from Summerland, I knew that Penticton was meant to be my home. Six years ago, I was fortunate enough to find my dream job at Okanagan College as Campus Administrator. In this role I have been able to connect with students, families, not-for-profits, businesses, and amazing City staff; knowing the strength of our community has motivated me to run for Penticton City Council.
As Community Engagement is my jam, I have become a board member at OneSky Community Services and Community Futures, as well as a member of the City of Penticton Parks and Recreation Committee. This experience has allotted me a clear understanding of the economic and social infrastructure strengths and gaps in our community.
As a parent of a child with a rare genetic condition, I have first hand knowledge of navigating community social services, and feel fortunate to be part of a community that offers wrap around services for children and families β but I understand the barriers that marginalized people face.
I believe that my previous role as Community Development Coordinator at the City of North Vancouver, coupled with my experience and involvement in Penticton will allow me to lead with empathy, insight and love.
